POSITION PURPOSE:

KSL Radio is seeking an afternoon news anchor to provide clear and concise news updates during the afternoon drive. With show preparation and additional newscast responsiblities the shift will be approximately 1:00 PM 6:30 PM. Management assigns responsiblities on a regular and/or rotating basis depending on company needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Anchor news updates as scheduled
  • Pull audio and write, produce, and perform newscasts every 30 minutes
  • Debrief live details of breaking news with show host(s) as needed
  • Attend staff meetings and meet regularly with Executive Producer and/or Program Director for airchecks
  • Understand KSL policy and FCC rules and regulations
  • Additional responsibilities include writing, interviewing, and general newsroom support in the morning, afternoon, or evening as needed

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • College level education in journalism or related field or equivalent experience
  • Two (2) years commercial broadcasting experience or equivalent
  • Able to quickly conceptualize stories for radio presentation and able to write and produce a radio newscast utilizing material from all available sources
  • Possess an acceptable on-air presence and voice quality which exudes confidence and projects a professional image. Able to enunciate clearly, read copy fluently, and ad-lib when required
  • Ability to work with moderate supervision, confidential information and be a self-starter
  • Capable and willing to resolve unexpected problems and be flexible to perform unscheduled assignments
  • Work in compliance with Company policies and procedures
  • Work effectively in a team environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
  • Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination.
  • Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion.
