POSITION: KSL Radio is seeking a dynamic sports radio producer to join the Cougar Sports Saturday team. As the legacy home of the BYU Cougars, KSL's "Cougar Sports Saturday" is the weekly "meeting place" for fans to follow the Cougs and get the most up-to-date info on their team. The producer will work alongside the show hosts as a co-creator of each weekly show, finding the best BYU Sports headlines and delivering fans the unique coverage that is informative and entertaining.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce a highly compelling BYU sports talk show that covers the most important BYU headlines
  • Research and contribute creative ideas on show development, topics, guests, format execution and station promotion
  • Coordinate with hosts to plan engaging segments for the show
  • Strategically use digital elements to enhance audience experience and increase audience engagement
  • Regularly post to show's social media accounts using varied and creative content
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Ideal candidate would also be interested in furthering skills as a news producer to fill-in when needed on other KSL Newsradio talk shows

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • College degree in communications, journalism, marketing or other relevant field, or 1-2 years relevant experience
  • Ability to produce talk show topics and support execution that is professional, timely and compelling
  • Knowledgeable and articulate in sports news and coverage
  • Creative in use of sound, production elements, show ideas and benchmarks to build more interesting presentation
  • Proficient in Adobe Audition, Audacity, Premiere-Pro
  • Solid understanding of digital media, SEO tactics, podcasting and social media strategy
  • Enthusiasm for sports talk radio
  • Self-motivated, creative individual who can also organize and consistently display good judgement
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Proven ability to handle stress
  • Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor
  • Maintain positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management and clients

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively
  • Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination
  • Lift, move and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion
